Maria Jancevski, MD, a Michigan native, joined Oakland Ophthalmic Surgery in 2010. She is a board-certified ophthalmologist with special interests in refractive cataract surgery, glaucoma and uveitis. Dr. Jancevski completed her ophthalmology residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. During her time there, she was actively involved with the Diabetes Retinopathy Screening Quality Improvement initiative. Her work and dedication was awarded the 2008 Focus on People Award.
Dr. Jancevski went on to complete an Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Fellowship through the Department of Ophthalmology, Harvard School of Medicine, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, in Cambridge, MA. She trained under the direction of Dr. C. Stephen Foster, MD, at the Massachusetts Eye Research & Surgery Institution. Together, they published articles on the surgical management of uveitic cataracts. Dr. Jancevski is also an Assistant Professor at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. She participates in the clinical and microsurgical training of Ophthalmology residents at William Beaumont Hospital as well as lecturing on the clinical and surgical management of uveitis.
Dr. Jancevski serves as a committee member in the formulation of the Basic Clinical Science Course series, the main text for ophthalmology residents, and is actively involved in her community with proud participation in multiple volunteer programs, including Habitat for Humanity, the Greening of Detroit, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Ronald McDonald House, and Focus HOPE.
